Tonights Agenda
π Alberta Update
Cochrane: We lost momentum when ICLEI interference and a National Observer hit-piece targeted the campaign. Lesson learned: the more we spotlight, the more the opposition will mobilize.
Municipalities are being misled: told they βmustβ join PCP to access GMF funding β when in fact, PCP is voluntary.
KICLEI has sent an Open Letter to FCM requesting clarification: π https://kiclei.substack.com/p/open-letter-to-fcm-request-for-clarification
AB Elections: Use new KICLEI tools to form platforms and push candidates:

π² British Columbia Update
BC Exit Report released after July meetings https://kiclei.substack.com/p/exiting-the-bc-climate-action-charter
Delegation to Tumbler Ridge (re: PRRD Climate Action Plan) was well received β councillors said it was the first time they had heard this side.
π https://kiclei.substack.com/p/tumbler-ridge-residents-push-backRDCK Breakthrough: On Sept 18, Councillor moved a motion to pause PCP. Discussion revealed PCP and BCCAC are voluntary in BC.
π Case study: https://kiclei.substack.com/p/new-municipal-breakthrough-bc-governmentπ’ BC is now actively making progress. Members should send the case study to their councils and prepare for the 2026 municipal elections.
π Ontario Update
Oxford County / Norwich Township: Detailed motion passed to obtain PCP costs despite strong pushback.
Review the Code of Conduct: https://www.kiclei.ca/code-of-conduct
Tools to replicate cost motion: https://kiclei.substack.com/p/new-municipal-toolkit-unveiled-time
Full case study coming soon via KICLEI newsletter.
Cambridge Council: Consultant conflated provincial requirements with PCP. Introduced carbon credits as a compliance mechanism. π¨ This is unacceptable β we must prevent councils from funnelling tax dollars into carbon markets.
π Read more: https://kiclei.substack.com/p/blurring-the-lines-how-pcp-and-provincialDufferin County: Staff are misrepresenting PCP costs and administrative burden. They must answer honestly β not recycle FCM/ICLEI talking points.
Simcoe County: Delegations are well recieved in lower teir townships. Councils are asking good questions. Making progress.
π° Media Pushback
