As news broke that a local councilor was seeking a seat on the FCM Board of Directors, Peterborough’s Local Network moved into action.
An Open Letter was sent to the Council before the General Committee meeting
On April 22, the Council discussed the Agenda Item and voted to accept the mayors report to support Councilor Duguay in running for the FCM Board.
Councilor Riel and Beamer voted in opposition.
This Public Awareness Video was produced and sent to the Council ahead of the final vote.
On April 29, Delegations by Maggie Braun and Susan Chiddix, delved into the city's engagement with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), paving the way for dialogue.
The FCM challenges the traditional roles of federal, provincial and municipal government and utilizes the administrative branch of government to implement the United Nations Agenda over a Local Agenda.
Reports were sent to Council ahead of time and submitted in the deputation requests.
