In this short excerpt from my interview with Beth St Denis on CHP Talks, I explain how KICLEI began — and why we’re helping communities across Canada identify and reconsider their involvement in global municipal programs like ICLEI.
📌 ICLEI (International Council on Local Environmental Initiatives) — founded in 1990 with UN ties — works with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to implement Agenda 21 and related climate/urban policies at the local level.
📌 KICLEI — A grassroots newsletter and network empowering councils and citizens to review these programs, weigh the costs, and decide whether they serve local priorities.
