Thorold Opts Out of UN Climate Program on June 18th

Background

The City of Thorold, Environmental Committee held a meeting on June 7, 2024 to discuss acceptance of the UN affiliated Partner's for Climate Protection Program. Local civic advocate, Maggie Hope Braun, provided a critique of this program and questioned the impact on local autonomy and faced backlash from the Environmental Committee.

In their meeting they disparaged citizens that are in opposition to such programs and voiced the desire to be able to meet behind closed doors.
